Two favorite things with the Ford Raptor 2011 (not available in 2010)
are the SelectShift and Progressive Range Select.
You may have heard of SelectShift, where you put the shift lever into M for
Manual
mode and you can select the gear desired whenever you want. Basically, you
have full control of gear selection the same way you have with a manual
transmission. The 4.2-inch LCD screen will show you what gear you are in at
any given time, which makes it very useful.
SelectShift is really cool, but even cooler is the Progressive Range Select.
To activate the
Progressive Range Select while in Drive, simply press the + button on the
shift lever and all six available gears will appear on the LCD screen.
Current gear will show in orange. Now you can press - or + to limit the max
gear. This allows you to quickly force downshifts or limit max gear.
Play around with it and you will see that it improves your driving
performance off-road
and on-road, it is fun, and it can even improve your gas mileage.
