Difference between Apple Juice and Cider

What is the difference between Apple Juice and Cider?

What is the difference between apple juice and cider? Here we will look at apple juice vs. cider.

First of all, both cider and apple juice are beverages made from apples and they are both delicious.

Apple juice is made by taking out all the seeds and filtering away pulp and any hard or solid particles. Furthermore, apple juice is pasteurized and treated to stay fresh and have a long shelf life.

Cider on the other hand, is not made to last. After you make it, you have to refrigerate it and consume it relatively quickly before it goes bad. In a nutshell, all you do to make cider is to grind up whole apples so it looks like applesauce, and then you squeeze out the juice - called cider.

Cider is a lot cheaper to make. You use a lot more of the apples and you spend less money making it compared to apple juice.

Apple juice is more of an everyday drink, while cider is more popular during special occasions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Finally, the cider looks darker and is more tangy or bitter tasting, while apple juice is lighter and smoother tasting.
