Tic-Tac-Toe Strategies:
There are bascially only three main Tic-Tac-Toe strategies you must follow to win:

Choose to start
If you have the choice you should always start because
you mathematically have more options to win.

If you are first, choose a corner
You should always choose a corner first because mathematically
it gives the oponent the least amount of options to avoid you
winning.

If you are second, always choose corner or center
Choose center if available, if not choose corner. You will
loose if you do not follow this strategy!

If both players follow these rules and pay attention during
the rest of the game, neither will win and neiter will loose. (called a draw or cat's game)
However, most don't pay attention and you will find opportunities to win

How many ways can you mix up X's and O's?
If you were do decorate a board that has nine squares and
three things to decorate it with; X's, O's, and blanks, then
the math of calculating possible decoration options is pretty
easy: 3^9 which equals 19,683.

How many possible ways of playing Tic-Tac-Toe?
The first move can be played 9 ways, the second move 8 ways,
the third moves 7 ways and so on.. Thus, 9*8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1 = 362,880
possible ways that Tic-Tac-Toe can be played.

Tic-Tac-Toe History
The precise origins of the game are unknown, but Tic-Tac-Toe is believed to
be the oldest game in history still played today. It dates back to the
Roman Empire in the first century BC when it was called Terni Lapilli.
Carved grids have been excavated throughout the Roman Empire. The Romans
used counters or stones to play the game, so the grids could be used over
and over. Today the game is often played with paper and pen or with a
reusable grid and markers.

You might be surprised to learn that Tic-Tac-Toe was the first computer
game, invented in 1952 by A.S. Douglas at Cambridge University.

Though a simple game, Tic-Tac-Toe is a great mental exercise used to improve
the thought process in children and adults. Test your mental strength here!
