What is mean? What is the definition of mean and how do you calculate the mean? The mean is simply the average, and is therefore also often called mean average. To calculate the mean, add up all the numbers in your set, and then divide by how many numbers you added up.
The mean formula is (number1 + number2 + etc)/(total numbers)
For example, let's say you have the following numbers:
2 4 7 23 42 54
If you add them up together, you get 132
Since there are 6 numbers in our set, the mean formula is 132/6 =
So, the mean of our set of numbers is 22.
