What does GOP Stand for?
The acronym GOP stands for Grand Old Party, which is a name used interchangeably with the Republican Party.
Ironically, although it dates all the way back to 1854, it is not the Oldest Party. The Democratic Party was founded in 1828.
We heard somewhere that almost 40 percent of registered Republicans do not know what GOP stands for. We're guessing that many or more Democrats don't know either. At least you now know what GOP stands for.
