The Amish people do not believe in modern technology such as cars, television, telephone and even smoke detectors. Amish people believe that whatever happens, happens because God meant for it to happen.
Furthermore, they do not believe in any kind of insurance, which includes dental insurance. So, when an Amish person has a problem with a tooth, they simply solve the problem by pulling the tooth.
We have heard that in many cases, they either just pull all the teeth at a certain age, even if there is no problem, or if they have problem with one tooth, they pull them all to get it over with. It's less expensive to get them all pulled at once instead of pulling each tooth as it becomes a problem.
