Braille Alphabet

Braille Alphabet used by the blind

The Braille alphabet was created by Louis Braille in 1824 at the young age of 15. Any letter in the Braille Alphabet is a combination of dots. The dots are located on three rows with two columns. We call it the six dot system. See letters below.

There is no different symbol for upper case and lower case in the Braille Alphabet. Instead, you use the Braille with one dot in the bottom right, in front of any Braille letter, to signify that it is an upper case letter.
