Chess En Passant
What is Chess En Passant?
Chess En Passant is probably the least known Chess rule. We see over and over again that many Chess players are
not aware of or taking advantage of this rule. So, what is Chess En Passant? First of all, En Passant
is only applicable to the Pawns. Secondly, En Passant is only applicable when a Pawn moves two squares from its original position.
This is how it works: Black moves its Pawn two spaces and lands next to a white Pawn. The white Pawn can
then move forward diagonally behind the black Pawn, and at the same time capture the black Pawn it just passed.
Remember, both the opponent's and your Chess pieces must be Pawns.
PS. En Passant is french and means in passing. Basically, you are capturing a Pawn with your Pawn when you pass it.
