How Fast is a Knot?
Find out how fast a knot really is!
First of all, when you are driving a car, you tell people
how fast you're going by saying how many miles or kilometers per hour you
aredriving.
When you are on the sea in a boat or ship, you say how many
knots per hour you are traveling.
A knot is simply a nautical mile. So the next obvious question
then becomes: "How much is a nautical mile?"
A nautical mile or knot is 1.151 land miles. Thus, a knot is
a little less than a mile.
To find out exactly how many miles a knot is, simply
multiply knots by 1.151.
