Who built Mount Rushmore?
Answer to: Who built Mount Rushmore?
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is sculptures of George Washington, Thomas
Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln carved into the side of
Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
Gutzon Borglum was the Mount Rushmore sculptor from 1927 and 1939 and then
his son Lincoln Borglum became the sculptor until 1941 when funding dried
up. Ivan Houser was the assistant sculptor in the early years, and Lincoln
Borglum was the assistant sculptor before he took over from his father.
The initial plans of depicting the presidents all the way down to their
waists never materialized. In addition to the sculptures, hundreds of other
people worked the Mountain. They had different specialties such as being
miners, dynamite experts, and rock climbers.
