Why is it called a hamburger?
Question: Why is it called a hamburger?
A hamburger is ground beef between two buns, so
why is it called hamburger? It is not made out of ham!
Shouldn't it be called beefburger or beef sandwich or
something like that?
The name actually dates back to Germany where they started
grinding up beef and mixing in spices and called it
the hamburger.
If you speak German, you know that beef in German is rindfleisch.
So why isn't a hamburger then called rindfleischburger you may ask?
It is actually very simple. They started making the ground beef with buns
in Hamburg, Germany and then named the food after the city where the
food was invented.
