Is Hong Kong a country?
Question: Is Hong Kong a country?
Is Hong Kong a country you may ask? Hong Kong has its own laws, political
system, and even its own currency: Hong Kong Dollars - but Hong Kong is
not a country. China and Hong Kong operate under the principle of one
country with two systems. Thus, China is a country, and Hong Kong is part of China.
Hong Kong was transferred from Great Britain to China is 1997. China
implemented the two systems then, but China has not guaranteed that it will stay that
way forever.
Anyway, although it looks and feels like a country in many ways, Hong Kong
is not a country.
