How many in a baker's dozen?
Trivia Question: How many in a baker's dozen?
OK, so you probably know that a "regular" dozen is twelve, but
do you know how many a baker's dozen is?
A baker's dozen
is thirteen.
We have heard different theories about why bakers
add a "free" donut to their dozen. Some say it is to be nice.
However, the baker may have decided to add a donut to the
dozen to protect himself from complaints.
For example, let's say a baker promised that a dozen donuts weighed 2 pounds. However, his donuts came in different
sizes and shapes so they might not always add up to 2 pounds. Thus,
he simply added a donut to be sure he would deliver 2 pounds
as promised.
