What is a Listing Agreement?

A listing agreement is an agreement between the seller and the real estate agent or broker to sell a home. It states price, obligations, and terms between the real estate agent and the seller.

The real estate agent usually wants at least 6 percent commission and wants to have the exclusive right to sell your house for at least 6 months. This is easily negotiable by the seller – who is the customer. Research Maniacs recommends that you do not agree to more than three months and you should be able to reduce the commission percentage too.
