Beverly Cleary is a famous American author. She wrote more than thirty children’s books and won many awards, like the Newberry Award for her book Dear Mr. Henshaw.
When she was young she lived on a farm in Yamhill and she had no library, because the town was so small.
Her mom sent out for books so that she could read. When Beverly Cleary was six, she and her family moved to Portland, Oregon.
She wrote lots of books like the series about Ramona Quimby who lives on Klickitat Street in Portland. She is a great author!
