Pioneer Courthouse Square
Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, Oregon
In the center of downtown, you will find Pioneer Courthouse Square. This public space is known as “Portland’s Living Room.”
It was named after the Pioneer Courthouse just east of the square, located between 6th and Broadway and Morrison and Yamhill streets.
It used to be an eight-story hotel, then a parking garage, then finally Pioneer Courthouse Square. They almost didn’t have enough money to build it,
but they sold enough bricks that people could put their names on and they raised $750,000! It opened April 6, 1984. Come hang out at Pioneer Square!
