Franklin Pierce was the United States of America’s fourteenth president.

President Franklin Pierce was born in Hillsborough, New Hampshire on November 23, 1804 and grew up to become America’s fourteenth president.

President Franklin Pierce was a member of the Democratic Party and his vice president was William R. King. His place of primary affiliation was New Hampshire.

Franklin Pierce became president on March 4, 1853 and left the office on March 4, 1857. Franklin Pierce's nicknames include Handsome Frank and Young Hickory of Granite Hills.

Pierce participated in the border war with Mexico and was a lawyer before he became President of the United States at age 48. Dealing with the issue of territorial expansion and slavery in Cuba, Kansas and Nebraska caused him to lose a lot of support in the north, and he was not even nominated for re-election by his own Democratic Party.

Franklin Pierce was 64 years old when he died on October 8, 1869.
