President Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911 and grew up to become Americaís fortieth president.

He was an actor, union representative and broadcaster before he became President of the United States at age 69. His place of primary affiliation was California.

Ronald Reagan became president on Tuesday, January 20, 1981 and left the office on Friday, January 20, 1989. President Ronald Reagan was a member of the Republican Party and his vice president was George H. W. Bush.

Ronald Reagan's nicknames include The Great Communicator, Dutch, Ronald the Right, The Gipper, and The Teflon President.

He was the source of the term "Reaganomics,Ē a liberal policy of large tax cuts and increased military spending and huge cuts in most other government spending. The economy grew, but the budget deficit increased simultaneously.

However, inflation was 12.5% in the year when he was inaugurated, 4.4% when he left office.

In 1986 the Reagan administration was shaken by the Iran-Contra affair. High-ranking officials and military had sold weapons to Iran, and the proceeds were sent to Nicaragua, despite the express decision of the Congress that such aid was illegal. Reagan took responsibility for it, but maintained that he did not know what had happened.

Ronald Reagan was 69 and America's oldest president. Ronald Reagan was 93 years old when he died on June 5, 2004.
