When researching the largest cities in Illinois, Research Maniacs
used two different criteria for determining the largest city in
Illinois.
First, we looked at the population of all major cities in Illinois from the
last census and sorted the cities accordingly.
Secondly, we looked at all the city maps in Illinois to find how much land
area the cities cover and sorted the cities accordingly.
When we sorted the cities in Illinois by population, we found that
Chicago is the largest city in Illinois. The five largest cities in Illinois, sorted by population,
are Chicago, Aurora, Rockford, Joliet, and Naperville.
When we sorted the cities in Illinois by land area, we found that Chicago is the largest city in Illinois.
