When researching the largest cities in Iowa, Research Maniacs used two different criteria for determining the largest city in Iowa.

First, we looked at the population of all major cities in Iowa from the last census and sorted the cities accordingly.

Secondly, we looked at all the city maps in Iowa to find how much land area the cities cover and sorted the cities accordingly.

When we sorted the cities in Iowa by population, we found that Des Moines is the largest city in Iowa. The five largest cities in Iowa, sorted by population, are Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Sioux City, and Waterloo.

When we sorted the cities in Iowa by land area, we also found that Des Moines is the largest city in Iowa.
