When researching the largest cities in Maine, Research Maniacs
used two different criteria for determining the largest city in
Maine.
First, we looked at the population of all major cities in Maine from the
last census and sorted the cities accordingly.
Secondly, we looked at all the city maps in Maine to find how much land
area the cities cover and sorted the cities accordingly.
When we sorted the cities in Maine by population, we found that
Portland is the largest city in Maine. The five largest cities in
Maine, sorted by population, are Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, South Portland, and Auburn.
When we sorted the cities in Maine by land area, we also found that
Ellsworth is the largest city in Maine. The three largest cities in
Maine, sorted by land area, are Ellsworth, Caribou, and Presque Isle.
