What is Stockholm Syndrome?
Question: What is Stockholm Syndrome?
In 1973, a bank in Stockholm, Sweden was robbed which resulted in a six-day hostage situation.
The hostages became emotionally attached to the robbers, negotiated on their behalf, and even
defended them after the ordeal was over. This kind of unexpected behavior is now called
"Stockholm Syndrome." You have probably heard of Patricia Hearst who is believed to
be a victim of Stockholm Syndrome.
