|-4| = ?
The absolute value of -4 is the distance between -4 and 0 on a number line. See illustration below where -x is -4:
Since the distance between -4 and 0 on a number line is 4, we get the answer as follows:
|-4| = 4
Note that the absolute value of -4 can also be written as abs(-4) which may be useful to know if you have a good calculator.
