How many teeth do humans have?
Question: How many teeth do humans have?
First of all, humans get two sets of teeth: Primary teeth and Permanent
teeth.
Primary teeth (aka milk teeth, baby teeth, and deciduous teeth) are your
temporary teeth.
You get 20 of these, 10 on the top of your mouth and 10 on the bottom of
your mouth.
Most start growing these at around 6 months of age.
Permanent teeth are hopefully your permanent teeth. You get 32 permanent
teeth. You get 16 on the top of your mouth and 16 on the bottom of your mouth. This
includes the 4 wisdom teeth, which you may or may not get.
PS. According to my dentist, the correct term for mammals that have two sets
of teeth are called diphyodont. Interestingly, most mammals are diphyodont.
