What is Earth's Diameter?
Information about Earth's Diameter
We could find the Earth's diameter by finding the distance you would
travel if you stood on the Equator and dug straight down,
finding out how far it is to the other side. The answer is that the Earth's
diameter is about 7,900 miles.
Earth is not exactly round, it has a little belly
or (love handles if you will) in the middle, so
note that if you dig from one of the polar sides,
the distance will be slightly less.
7,900 miles is 41,712,000 feet. The good old Eiffel
Tower built back in 1897 is 1063 feet. If you want
to stack and fill your hole through Earth with
Eiffel towers, you would have to make 39,240 towers.
Anyway, as stated above, the Earth's diameter is
7,900 miles.
