How to remove popcorn kernel stuck in gum
This is how to remove popcorn kernel stuck in gum.

Two problems you may run into while eating yummy buttery popcorn; first, the butter that gets stuck around your waste, and second, the popcorn kernels that get stuck in the gums of your teeth.

You also want to solve the second problem. You definitely do not want kernels stuck in your gum for any length of time. Popcorn kernels stuck in gum will cause gum to become inflamed, which causes all kinds of dental problems.

How to remove popcorn kernel stuck in gum

This is how we have been able to remove popcorn kernel stuck in gum:

The first thing to try is brushing the area where the kernel is stuck. Brush away from the gum toward the tooth trying to brush the kernel out from under the gum.

If that does not work, use a toothpick to try to get it out. Toothpicks made of wood sometimes make things worse. Try a hard plastic toothpick.

You can also use floss. It works especially well if the kernel is stuck in the gum between two teeth. Remember to kind of push it up like you do with a toothbrush. You don't want to push the kernel further down the gum.

If all of the above fails, use this salt-water trick. Take a glass of water and put a few pinches of salt in it. Then, gurgle it around in your month where the stuck kernel is located. It may take a while, but this seems to work very often.

Of course if none of this got the kernel out of your gum, then we recommend that you call your dentist. You do not want to assume that the kernel will just find its way out on its own.
